ABOUT
Eleftherios Kalpaktsidis is a Greek tenor and composer based in Germany. He began his vocal studies in Greece, completing his Diploma in Classical Singing with Charikleia Glavopoulou. He later continued his academic training at the Ionian University, where he completed an Integrated Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Classical Singing under Rosa Poulimenou. He subsequently pursued a Master's degree in Opera at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover under Markus Schäfer, supported by a scholarship from the Greek Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Greek National Opera.
As a lyric tenor, Eleftherios is developing a repertoire centered on Mozart and bel canto, exploring the connection between vocal technique, musical language, and character interpretation. His work is guided by a continuous search for vocal freedom, stylistic awareness, and truthful expression on stage. He continues his vocal development through regular lessons with voice teacher Don Marrazzo.
His operatic experience includes roles such as Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), and Der Schneider (Königskinder), as well as ensemble work at the Staatsoper Hannover (Der Rosenkavalier). He is currently preparing the role of Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), which plays a central role in his ongoing artistic development, with an upcoming engagement at the Operosa Montenegro Opera Festival.
In addition to his operatic work, he has performed in musical theatre productions, including Into the Woods (Jack) at the Greek National Opera – Alternative Stage. His broader stage experience is complemented by training in movement and dance, contributing to a physically engaged and versatile performance presence.
Alongside his work as a singer, Eleftherios is an active composer, with a creative output spanning orchestral, chamber, and music theatre works. His compositions have been presented by ensembles and institutions such as the City of Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, and have been recognized with awards for original composition. His compositional voice plays a central role in shaping his artistic identity, informing his approach to musical structure, phrasing, and dramatic interpretation.
This dual perspective as both performer and creator allows him to approach repertoire with a heightened sensitivity to form, narrative, and musical detail. His work is driven by a continuous exploration of the relationship between sound, text, and expression, aiming to create performances that are both structurally grounded and emotionally direct.
At this stage of his career, he is focused on further expanding his operatic repertoire and stage experience within an international context, while continuing to develop his artistic voice across both performance and composition.
